HR Assistant

As a HR team our mission statement is:

Role responsibilities:


  1. Being proactive in supporting our managers and leaders across Rocket X. You will have your own area of responsibility to partner with but will be a support across all areas of our business. 

    You will support the HR team with administrative work such as contract creation, offer letter drafting and new starter, onboarding and leaver support. 

  2. You’ll look at things like key focuses for the upcoming few months, new starters/ developmental or progression opportunities, key HR metrics like absence/ attrition and average LOS, succession/ flight risks. 

  3. You will support on our monthly payroll working with our Finance team - New starters, leavers and changes

  4. HR System wiz - Manage and utilise the HR system to its max. This will include moving as much of our onboarding process onto our HR system and moving away from things like Docusign, excel spreadsheets.

  5. Completing pre-starter checks including DBS, identification and supporting a smooth onboarding process from offer through to those first crucial few weeks.

  6. To support in developing training workshops including management training, induction training and our culture workshops. We have a great L&D programme lined up for the next 12-18 months and you can help shape that. 

  7. To support the HR team to deliver induction, culture and management training as required. Don’t worry we’ll make sure you are totally confident in doing so and we’ll have built the sessions together.

  8. Support end-to-end recruitment in collaboration with the relevant hiring manager and any external third parties. Recruitment will be shared amongst the team and you will lead recruitment for the roles that you have responsibility for. 

  9. Have employment law knowledge but more importantly to take a common sense approach working within our policies and procedures to find the best solution/advice for each situation. 

  10. Celebrating and sharing publicly our successes, our culture and all the things that make Rocket X special. We want to increase our brand awareness in the North East and UK as a whole. We want to be an employer of choice. 

  11. Supporting our HR processes throughout the year such as performance review processes, reward and recognition programmes.

Skills and attributes:


We need someone who is curious, inquisitive and enthusiastic. I’m happy with feedback and will encourage and back you if you want to make changes. We’re a team and our success depends on being able to trust and encourage each other. 


You will have experience in HR or management to be able to support our managers here at Rocket X. 


You need to be someone who is self driven, someone who takes joy out of finding opportunities, discovering new ways of working or thinking and how these could apply.
