AML Team Leader

Our priority is to keep our brands and customers safe with our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team playing an integral role in the identification of suspicious activity and the defence of customers spending the proceeds of crime. 


The AML team leader will play a key role in supporting our Head of Safer Gambling & AML by managing current and emerging risks, whilst continuing to deliver the safest and greatest online gaming experience. As an experienced people manager with a keen eye for detail, they will need to be confident, able to take ownership of their own decision making and be equipped to support the development of their dedicated team of AML Executives. With a solid understanding of AML legislation, they will also contribute to the development of policies and procedures and support in company training.


As a fully fledged Rocketeer, the successful candidate for this role will need to support our vision of creating a unique working environment and encourage their team to be self driven and challenge the norm. The Role


  • Lead and motivate a  team of AML Executives in accordance with Rocket X Cornerstones and Attitudes

  • Coach and provide training to AML employees to deliver a compliant service whilst also driving continuous professional development

  • Continuously training and empowering the team so they are able to make independent and wise decisions about player accounts or potential risks 

  • Strong understanding of AML regulations and the associated risk for the UK and other territories as required to ensure compliance

  • Ensuring Suspicious Activity Reports, Sanctions Screening, KYC and PEP's are fully investigated in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring confirmed findings are escalated to the MLRO as required

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders providing subject matter expertise

  • Instil a robust quality framework, which supports a compliant and reliable business function

  • Awareness of company policy, especially in relation to Fraud and Social Responsibility and escalating concerns for investigation 

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data from a range of sources which supports effective decision making.

  • Using data and reports, you’ll be able to identify trends and patterns of behaviour with the aim of limiting reputational damage and preventing risky behaviour

  • Develop and continuously improve management reporting to ensure areas of risk are  identified and mitigated 

  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of an ever-changing regulatory landscape attending industry and regulatory events

  • This role is office based and you will be working a Monday - Friday, with some weekend work required


The Person 


  • Demonstrable experience of working within AML in a heavily regulated industry

  • Exemplary leadership, communication and business partnering skills

  • Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a team

  • A professional qualification in anti-money laundering would be advantageous but is not essential for the role

  • A proactive and dedicated leader, who relishes the opportunity to challenge the norm

  • The ability to innovate and motivate the AML team

  • Able to inspire those around them, promoting a culture of continuous professional development

  • The team will look to you to be the person who’s on the ball at all time


Additional Information

  • Competitive starting salary and competitive pension contributions

  • 37.5 hours a week, with flexibility, but working around business need

  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a full DBS Check and must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom
